# Support for Shopify Basic Plans

## Overview

When integrating Shopify with VU, order data is imported through the Shopify APIs. However, Shopify Basic plans have limitations on the customer and order information that can be exposed through the APIs, including information considered PII (Personally Identifiable Information).

One of these limitations affects access to shipping address information. Since VU requires a full shipping address to fully ingest and process orders, this restriction previously prevented orders on Shopify Basic plans from being imported successfully.

To address this issue, VU has introduced a new configuration option that allows shipping addresses to be treated as optional during order import.

### What Changed?

A new setting has been added that allows orders to be imported even when shipping address information is unavailable from Shopify.

When enabled:

* Orders from Shopify Basic can be successfully imported into VU.
* The order creation process will no longer fail due to missing shipping address data.
* Order processing workflows can continue without interruption.

### Impact of Enabling This Option

While this workaround allows orders to be imported, it is important to understand that shipping address information is not available to VU and therefore cannot be stored within the system.

As a result:

#### Order Details

* Shipping address fields will be blank within the VU order record.

#### Order Management Views

* Users viewing orders in VU will not see shipping address information.

#### Factory Documentation

Any system-generated documents sent to manufacturing partners, fulfillment providers, or factories will not include shipping address details.

Examples include:

* Production work orders (Travelers)
* Packing slips
* Box Labels
* Factory reports

### Important Considerations

Before enabling this option, organizations should verify that shipping address information is not required for downstream business processes. If fulfillment, manufacturing, logistics, or customer service teams rely on shipping addresses being available in VU, those teams may need to access the information directly within Shopify.

This setting should be used only when operating on Shopify Basic plans where shipping address data cannot be provided through the integration. Organizations that require shipping address information throughout the order lifecycle should consider upgrading their Shopify plan or using an integration method that provides access to the required customer and shipping data.

Additionally, please review [all requirements](/vu-custom/integrations-connections/requirements-for-order-import.md) for successful order import.

### How to Enable this Setting

Currently this setting must be enabled by a VU Custom administrator. Please reach out to VU Custom's support team to initiate enabling this setting. The support team can be reached at <support@vucustom.com>
